Haloperidol

Bromperidol

Haloperidol is a butyrophenone antipsychotic drug and is widely used to treat schizophrenic disorders or maniac psychosis. Bromperidol is formed by replacing the Cl atom at the side chain of haloperidol with a Br atom, and is also a butyrophenone antipsychotic drug.
The measurement of the concentrations of haloperidol or bromperidol in blood is an effective way to: (1) determine the optimum quantity and method of administration to enhance therapeutic efficacy and prevent side effects; (2) select non-responders and change therapeutic measures; and (3) confirm compliance.
