Introduction of Iwate Factory

Iwate Factory, a facility that manufactures various products, is located in Hachimantai city, Iwate prefecture, about 600 kilometers north from Tokyo and about 40 kilometers northwest from Morioka city. Mount Iwate is in the south and mountains of Hachimantai National Park are in the west of the factory. It is a perfect environment where beautiful natural surroundings including fresh spring water can be enjoyed throughout the four seasons.
The factory premises measure about 450,000m²; the phase1 construction was completed in 1978 and operation started in 1979. Since then, the factory has been operating as a production base of our fine chemical business, while undergoing phase2 construction in 1981 and phase3 construction in 1985. In 2000, phase4 and phase5 constructions added pharmaceutical intermediate production facilities focusing on optically active compounds.
We have submitted several DMFs to FDA, and received multiple FDA inspections since 1984 without major issues.
We have been taking every step to preserve the environment. We disclosed the pollution prevention agreement with Hachimantai city (former Matsuo village) in 1977, and constructed the anaerobic fermentation processing facility in 1992. We obtained ISO14001 certificate in Spring 2001, and are trying to make the factory even more environment-friendly.
