Assay Principle

Latex Immunoturbidimetric Assay

When a certain amount of anti- valproic acid antibody is added to a specimen, the anti- valproic acid antibody binds to valproic acid until it has reacted with all of the available valproic acid in the specimen. Next, valproic acid -coated latex are added, which react with the residual anti- valproic acid antibody, leading to agglutination. Since the extent of agglutination depends on the concentration of valproic acid in the specimen, the valproic acid concentration can be determined by measuring the absorbance as an indicator of agglutination.
