Interview
Tell us why you decided to join SEKISUI MEDICAL.
The reason why I decided to join Sekisui Medical was because I felt that there was an undiscovered potential for the early detection of diseases through "in vitro diagnostic pharmaceuticals" and that the advantages of not administering directly to the human body would lead to a reduction in the burden on patients. In addition, I felt that the atmosphere of the company and its employees that I experienced at the company information session and during the workplace tour was a good fit for me, which was a major factor in my decision.

Tell us about your current job and what makes it interesting and challenging.
I am currently working with a foreign company. Even though I want to convey my ideas to them, there are hurdles such as language barriers and differences in ways of thinking, and there are many times when things do not go as planned. However, I find it rewarding to make progress, even if it is only one step at a time, and it gives me a positive feeling to keep on working hard. In the Technology Section, there are other tasks such as "switching of reagent materials" and "transfer from the laboratory to the plant." In the case of switching raw materials, I examine alternative products to prevent difficulties in continuing the supply of products due to reasons such as the suspension of supply by raw material manufacturers. For product transfer, I work with the relevant departments to ensure that new products can be transferred from the laboratory scale to the manufacturing scale at the plant. I find it interesting and challenging to work in the Technology Section, where I can perform multiple tasks and work as a behind-the-scenes person in the plant.
What do you like about SEKISUI MEDICAL
There are two things that I like about SEKISUI MEDICAL. 1) The fact that I can work with people of all ages toward a common goal. 2) The company and its employees work together to fulfill its social responsibility as a pharmaceutical manufacturer. At the Tsukuba Plant, where I work, new employees are assigned on a continuous basis, and there are many situations where I come in contact with young employees. It makes me happy to see them grow over the years, and it also inspires me. As a member of a pharmaceutical manufacturer, I take great pride in contributing to society through in vitro diagnostic products. However, the existence of the new coronavirus became a major obstacle. In the midst of the coronavirus epidemic, I believe that the strength of our company is the relationship between the company and its employees, working together to create a work environment where people can work with peace of mind, and this is something we can be proud of outside the company.

What are the points you feel proud of your office?
My pride and joy at the Tsukuba Plant is the table tennis club. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we haven't been able to do much lately, but we still get together at lunch or after work hours and play together!

How do you spend your day off?
On recent holidays, it has become a daily routine to take a walk with my newborn child. As an indoor person my child has inspired me to venture outdoors and it's become a very special time.
