Features
- Specifically measure fructosyl dipeptide at the N-terminus of a hemoglobin β-chain.
- Applicable to various types of automated analyzers.
- Does not contaminate cells.
Measurement Principle

Pretreatment
Hemolyze red blood cells in a sample, and oxidize hemoglobin into met-hemoglobin.
First Reaction
Cleave fructosyl dipeptide (fluctosyl-VH) at the N-terminus of a hemoglobin β-chain by action of protease.
Convert met-hemoglobin into azido met-hemoglobin by action of sodium azide, and measure absorbance of the product to determine the hemoglobin concentration.
Second Reaction
Initiate a reaction between fructosyl dipeptide (fructosyl-VH) and fructosyl peptide oxidase (FPOX) to produce hydrogen peroxide, which colors the coloring agent in the presence of peroxidase. Measure the absorbance of the colored substance to determine the HbA1c concentration.
Calculation formula for HbA1c (%)
HbA1c(%)= 96.3×HbA1c (μmol/L) Hb (μmol/L) +1.62
