Assay Principle
Latex Immunoturbidimetric Assay
When a certain amount of anti-digoxin antibody is added to a specimen, the anti- digoxin antibody binds to digoxin until it has reacted with all of the available digoxin in the specimen. Next, digoxin -coated latex are added, which react with the residual anti- digoxin antibody, leading to agglutination. Since the extent of agglutination depends on the concentration of digoxin in the specimen, the digoxin concentration can be determined by measuring the absorbance as an indicator of agglutination.
